Steve Johnson, a resident of Poughkeepsie, New York has been involved in magic since age nine and has been performing magic and juggling professionally for over 20 years.
The Magic Variety Show has been seen throughout the northeastern United States at resorts, festivals and performing arts events. In March of 1993 the Magic Variety Show traveled to Gainesville, Florida for a return engagement with the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. Extensive preparations were made to integrate magic with select musical pieces, which included making the conductor magically appear!
As a student in high school, Steve had given a presentation on magic and E.S.P. in which he demonstrated sleight of hand and predicted the headlines of the Poughkeepsie Journal Newspaper. This particular method of predicting the headlines used by Steve in demonstrations is original and was published in M-U-M, the official magazine of The Society of American Magicians."
"It was in college that I learned juggling in a physical education class taught by Greg Moss, one of the foremost juggling instructors in the nation." At that time Steve arranged a juggling routine performed to a mix of classical music, which has become his trademark. "Greg and I have become close friends and I often consult him about juggling ideas and technique. I also assisted Greg in organizing the RIT Spring Juggle-In, an annual juggling convention hosted at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York."
From 1987 to 1999, Steve had been involved in the Tannen Magic Camp, the only summer camp of it's kind in the U.S. that teaches magic skills to boys and girls age 9 to 18. "I feel privileged to have been a member of the staff at the magic camp. The kids are great to work with and are extremely innovative in coming up with new ideas for magic."
Steve Johnson currently holds lifetime membership in The Society of American Magicians and The International Brotherhood of Magicians.
